Kindergarten at Grassroots Montessori

Kindergarten at Grassroots Montessori is a vibrant journey that breaks away from traditional public schooling, embracing Montessori philosophy to honor each child's unique enthusiasm for learning

Unlike many public schools, where standardized curricula and large class sizes can sometimes limit opportunities for personalized instruction, our Kindergarten curriculum prioritizes small group activities and one-on-one interactions. This approach allows our dedicated educators to closely observe and support each student's progress, fostering a deeper understanding of concepts and a genuine love for learning.

Our program strikes a harmonious balance between skill refinement and imaginative exploration, integrating creative play, movement, and kinesthetic learning experiences. Our unique approach to extending beyond the traditional classroom setting allows your child to embark on a journey of self-discovery and independence, equipping them for the challenges of future learning endeavors.

In Grades 1-3 at Grassroots Montessori, students embark on a journey of discovery, recognizing that learning transcends mere competition and speed. Here, the mantra "Mistakes grow our brains!" resonates, highlighting the invaluable role of errors in the learning process. This philosophy encourages students to embrace challenges, recognizing them as vital steps in their educational voyage, and reminds them that innovation often arises outside the confines of conventional thinking.

At the onset of each academic year, thorough reading comprehension and skill assessments are conducted, supplemented by dedicated time for exploring individual interests and learning styles. This personalized approach provides educators with insights into each student's unique strengths and areas for development, facilitating tailored instruction in the months ahead. Furthermore, the learning experience emphasizes friendship and self-discovery, with students engaging in reflective writing, reading, and collaborative projects that foster a supportive and inclusive environment.

Throughout this journey, teachers maintain a steadfast focus on literacy and math while enriching the curriculum with special classes and group projects that enhance the traditional learning experience students experience in public schools. Employing a multi-sensory approach, we empower every student with the skills and confidence needed to thrive as they transition into Fourth Grade and beyond.

Identity/Belonging

Identity and belonging play crucial roles in a student's foundational educational journey, as they start to contemplate their place in the world and their connections within a diverse community. Nurturing a profound understanding of personal identity within this context cultivates a deep sense of belonging, enabling children to engage meaningfully and harmoniously with others.

Leadership

As students progress in primary education, our eldest students naturally step into leadership roles. They embrace increased levels of responsibility, leading community service initiatives, participating as featured speakers in school assemblies, and serving as role models for their peers.

Executive Functioning Skills

As our upper-grade students advance into Middle School, they encounter increased responsibilities. To facilitate this transition, our curriculum is designed to nurture crucial skills like organization, time management, and conflict resolution, essential for their lifelong success.
